"Extras" Season Two Out On DVD (US)

Amazon.com has the new "Extras" Season Two out on DVD.

Extras was the perfect fix for squirm-comedy addicts fiending since Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant wrapped up The Office Britain. Season two finds the eternally dumped-upon Andy Millman (Gervais) getting his sitcom picked up by the BBC only to have the show, in the pervading spirit of misery, devolve into an embarrassing quest for the lowest common denominator. Our favorite of the bizarro celebr-appearances: a horny, insecure Daniel Radcliffe — "I've done it with a girl, intercourse-wise."

There are lots of extra laughs in the DVD's bonus materials. In addition to "Extras Backstage," there's a hilarious collection of outtakes and bloopers, and a short feature showing the teasing and tormenting that go on among cast and crew members.

But the funniest extra is on the "Art of Corpsing." To "corpse" is British slang for when an actor unintentionally laughs and ruins a take. Evidently, Gervais is the champion corpser, breaking up repeatedly over what his colleagues are doing, causing reshoot after reshoot.

So if you ever wanted to see a great actor like Ian McKellen repeatedly blow his lines, or Daniel Radcliffe struggle mightily to keep a straight face, this is the DVD for you.
