The Season Finale: Lemmy and Deaden

Nothing goes together like heavy metal and action movies. Maybe heavy metal and horror, but the crunchy guitars and choppy bass suit shoot 'em ups best. So it's no accident Shawn and I have selected the documentary Lemmy and the action picture Deaden to close out our season on The X.

Lemmy is about the life and times of Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Anyone who loves metal will want to catch this film featuring appearances by Alice Cooper, Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield. Is the documentary about Lemmy as bad ass as his life? Stick with us!

And you have to stick around for Deaden, written by and starring Basement fave John Fallon, The Arrow of Arrow in the Head. Fallon has been good to The Basement this season and was our first feature interview. His action flick, made on a low budget, is slowly making the rounds around the globe and Shawn and I are anxious to see it. Will it be Good, Bad or Ugly? Tune in tonight and find out.

When we're not reviewing movies, we're spinning another video game review by Greg, playing four kick ass songs and keeping you up to date on the latest movie news. We want to say we're saving the best for last, but we're back on the air Oct 7 for another season . . . so you know we'd be full of poop!

Deaden

Victor Crowley will kill again in Hatchet 3

And we in The Basement say hells yeah!!

Hatchet 2 didn't perform all that well at the box office when it was released last October, but it isn't so much the film's fault as the MPAA. The rating board failed to give it an R and unrated cuts were pulled from theatres. In other words, it didn't stand a chance.

But the crew over at Arrow in the Head report Hatchet 2 has done well for itself on DVD and VOD and, if we might editorialize, deservedly so. Shawn and I gave the film a solid Good on the show several weeks back.

What does that mean? Hatchet 3 is on its way bitches!

ArieScope Pictures is co-producing with Dark Sky and writer/director Adam Green will be back. Here's what Green had to say, according to AITH:

"We already had a possible story-line for Hatchet 3 worked out before we began shooting Hatchet II, so my cast, crew and I are beyond excited to see that the story and legacy of Victor Crowley will indeed continue. For a little indie movie that I dreamt up when I was just eight years old, it has been absolutely surreal to watch it turn into a modern-day slasher franchise."

We can only hope/pray/dream that Danielle Harris (picture) will also be back. It's great to see a deserving horror franchise continue for a change as I've yet to meet a genre fan who hasn't liked the first two films.

Watch John Fallon's The Red Hours

 Those who listened to our exclusive interview with John Fallon -- AKA The Arrow of Arrow In the Head -- a few weeks back (and I would assume that'd be all of you) likely remember him talking about the experience he had making his short film The Red Hours. Well, we here in The Basement have that short film for your viewing pleasure.

Fallon has said it's an artsy film, heavy and symbolic, with horror conventions. Think David Lynch and you're on the right track. I dug it, and I'm not huge on Lynch. But the less I say the better. Just watch it!

Alright guys and ghouls -- a bad, overused pun I know -- tonight brings the world the second episode of Film Reviews From the Basement: The Radio Show and we promise it will be a good one!

The bulk of tonight's program will be an interview with actor, writer, stunt man and film critic John Fallon, better known as The Arrow of Arrow in the Head, part of the JoBlo.com Movie Network. The dude is a fun, honest and entertaining interview, and I am sure fans will dig it.

We've also got reviews of the Dr. Uwe Boll anger epic Rampage and the T&A exploitation romp Bitch Slap plus some music for your ear hole if time allows.

We are Jason and Shawn and we are in The Basement! And in just one week we premiere live on 92.5FM CFBX at 10 p.m. and continue live every Friday after that, same Bat Time, same Bat Channel.

Are we nervous? Sure. Are we excited? Absolutely. Our hope is to kick off with a fun, informative and entertaining hour of movie news, music and reviews and keep that trend going for as long as the show runs on The X. We're all about low budget movies here in The Basement and, when we get the chance to promote one starring someone we know, we jump at it.

Deaden is an action/revenge film co-written and starring Canadian actor, writer, director, stunt man and film critic John Fallon. Regular readers might know him better as The Arrow of Arrow in the Head, one of pioneers of Internet horror-news sites .

Listeners of our upcoming radio show will get to hear an exclusive interview Shawn and I had with Fallon on Oct 8 at 10 p.m. Until then, enjoy this action packed U.K. trailer for Deaden.
