Guess Which New Supernatural Being Will Appear in True Blood Season 4!

Alan Ball, the awesome mastermind behind HBO's True Blood, revealed this fantastic piece of information regarding the next season of his hit show:
"In season four there will be witches and some of the characters we’ve known all along will have powers that maybe they didn’t even know about," he said. "That’s where it gets fun storytelling-wise because you have so many doors to open."
For those who have read the Sookie Stackhouse novels from Charlaine Harris, they already know about witches.

But this statement from Alan Ball has me really hopeful that we'll get to see an important character from the novels called Amelia Broadway, who basically becomes one of Sookie's best friends during the course of the later stories.

Broadway appears in the sixth novel of the series, Definitely Dead, and goes on to play a major role in Sookie's life. Wikipedia has a short entry for the character that you can read here.

Since True Blood has a tendency to differ a bit from the novels, though at the same time follow the major plotlines, I now wonder how soon will Alan Ball work her into the series.

Any opinion?

Zachary Quinto and Michael McMillian Working on Comic Book 'Lucid'

Former Heroes star Zachary Quinto (Sylar) and Michael McMillian (Reverend Steve Newlin, True Blood) are currently hard at work on a new comic book series called Lucid.

The four issue mini-series is being published by Archaia Comics and Quinto's Before the Door Pictures will overlook the book's production. McMillian will be writing the story.

Lucid will be illustrated by a 19 year old newcomer named Anna Wieszczyk.

Archaia Comics describes the book as an:
action-packed, pop-fantasy, four-issue miniseries that draws inspiration from the spy genre, Arthurian legend and 21st-century folklore! Dark forces are conspiring to prevent humankind from reaching its true potential. Thankfully, as newly appointed “Protector of the Realm,” Agent Matthew Dee uses his skills as a covert spy and Combat Mage to ensure America’s freedom from the grip of evil.
McMillian said that:
"It's a rock 'n' roll book, and I think for me part of it is taking these elements of magic and this concept of fantasy, which I think a lot of times gets a bad rap on one hand, and really make it fun and sexy and cool and contemporary."

"It's different in the sense that I do call these characters Combat Mages, which is a challenge in and of itself. That's a term I think gets knocked on, but I think it's cool and we're really going to make it exciting."
Zachary Quinto is a busy man, being hard at work on the production of his film Margin Call. There is no news yet on when he will return to his role of Spock on the Star Trek Sequel due out in 2012.

The first issue of Lucid is due out August 1.

True Blood's Sookie and Eric to Hook up Early?

Seems like an Eric and Sookie pairing may happen sooner than expected.

Mickey O'connor, senior editor at TVGuide.com has hinted that it may happen sooner rather than later. When asked when the pairing of everyone's favourite viking vampire and telepathic waitress would take place, he had this to say:

We're guessing it'll be soon, because once Sookie finds out what Bill is up to over at the king's manor house, she is going to be more than ready for some "passionate, primal sex."
[TVGuide]

Of course, it's only a guess and it may not happen at all this season, at least not the way we would want it to happen. And we know that Eric will spurn Sookie's advances in episodes 5-6. Maybe afterwards?

But since Alan Ball has veared a bit from the novels (which in itself is a good thing on some levels i.e. Lafayette and bad on others *cough* Tara *cough*) while maintaining the general overall storyline, it could still happen in series 3, ahead of series 4.

Me, I've been patiently waiting since season 1 for it to happen.

Anyone else looking forward to shipping Eric and Sookie?

Sci-Fi TV News Roundup

There were two important pieces of Sci-Fi tv news yesterday that I didn't have time to properly talk about regarding True Blood and Stargate Universe:

True Blood:

My favourite Vampire Series, True Blood, has been renewed for a fourth season by HBO.

The fourth book is my favourite in the series because an amnesiac Eric and Sookie finally hook up and do the very, very, dirty deed. Often.

The only downside? It wont air until June 2011. Booo.

[HBO]

Stargate Universe:

Robert C. Cooper, co-creator and showrunner of Stargate Universe, is departing the series he's been on for the past 14 years. This year's Comic-Con will mark his final appearance.

James Frain's Newest Vampire in Town Talks True Blood

Actor James Frain (Where the Heart Is, The Tudors) has recently spoken to TV Guide Online and revealed a few interesting tidbits about his True Blood character, Franklin Mott, his motivations, and what the arc for season 3 is all about.

About his relationship to a very distraught Tara (Rutina Wesley), Frain says:
That's the question of the first few episodes on whether he likes her. I think he really likes her, but I don't know that guys like Franklin have the same idea of what like means like the rest of us do. I think the better word is obsessed. That's what we start to discover.

Concerning his involvement with Bill (Stephen Moyer), and what's his importance this season, the British actor says: ''He's been sent on a mission to dig up information on Bill,'' and that:

For Franklin, Bill is just a job, so he's no more interested in Bill than any of his other assignments, but there are lots of unanswered questions about Bill, so Franklin will focus on getting the information on why he's there, what he's doing, and whether he doesn't have ulterior motives.
Frain also revealed what the main arc for series 3 would be:
It's heading toward some kind of confrontation between those who claim to represent the vampires. There are two different camps that emerge between who the vampires are, who they can be and whether it really is sustainable to live alongside human beings. That's the arc of the season.
Please go to TV Guide Online to read more about the interview, where he speaks more about his character and about his interactions with a certain blond Hottie. No, not THAT blond hottie :)

True Blood: Sookie's Fairy Godmother Cast!

Michael Ausiello has announced that British actress Lara Pulver - who recently starred in the BBC series Robin Hood - will play Sookie Stackhouse's fairy godmother (and distant cousin) Claudine in HBO's True Blood.

Claudine often acts as Sookie's own guardian angel, often saving the life of our favourite Merlotte waitress in the course of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels.

Now, I wonder who they will get to play Claude - Claudine's gorgeous (and very gay) twin brother! Any suggestions?
