Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by IESB

IESB has posted on their site a review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie, here are some quotes from this review.

‘The Order of the Phoenix’ is a very different beast from its predecessors. New director David Yates has created a look and feel in this latest chapter that is markedly darker than all the other films Harry Potter films. And quite fitting it is too as Daniel Radcliffe’s portrayal of the lead character is filled with intense angst, frustration and rage from the outset.

Radcliffe adds a new dimension to Potter this time round with a highly charged performance that is, for want of a better word, his most ‘adult’ to date. The young star incorporates a variety of subtle un-niceties to his role that sees him questioning all his beliefs and trust in others. Just as every young boy eventually discovers that there really isn’t a Father Christmas, Harry Potter becomes increasingly aware that everything is not as it seems and that even good people have bad traits. Including himself.

Another memorable performance comes via Imelda Staunton’s Professor Dolores. She oozes evil from every pour but skillfully underplays her part making all the more effective; character film goes will love to hate.

Oldman, Watson and Grint maintain their solid performances from previous chapters and the CGI special effects are as breathtaking as ever.
