Hilary Duff’s father was caught posing for a mug shot. Just over a week ago he was led out of divorce court in handcuffs after a judge found him in contempt of court.
The stunned star’s father said, “I had never been handcuffed before.”
Bob Duff talked exclusively to INSIDE EDITION in his first interview since getting out of jail. Duff’s arrest was the latest drama in a bitter breakup that’s tearing the Duff family apart.
“I was unfaithful to our marriage. I feel very badly about that and the effect that it had on the girls,” he says.
Duff’s daughter Hilary became one of the hottest teen stars in the world when she landed the part of Lizzie McGuire. Her big sister Haylie has also become famous as a television host. However, behind-the-scenes their father says the pressure of raising celebrity daughters took its toll on his marriage to his wife Susan.
“Susan was very consumed with the girls’ careers,” he confesses. “We simply grew apart.”
Things got really ugly when Hilary’s mom accused her husband, the millionaire owner of a chain of convenience stores, of selling off the family’s assets without court approval. A judge agreed, ordering Duff to spend a day in jail.
Duff is now out and plans to appeal. He hopes he can patch things up with his famous daughters.
