Thanks to member gluglug from SCQ, here are more quotes from the New York Time Talk:
I'm back from the Times Q&A session with Dan. The announcer said that it was the fastest selling event they've had yet, even faster than when Bono did a Q&A!
The best part was the Q&A with the audience, I think it would've been better if they just let the fans interview him the whole time, instead of the last 40 minutes or so. He really likes interacting with the fans and hearing what they have to say - he always seemed engaged and never bored or seemed like he wished he was somewhere else.
Dan looked great - he's sporting the facial hair and was wearing a black t-shirt and what looked like black track pants with a green army-type jacket. Looks really fit (and compact), as people have said.
He did sign some people's programs afterwards (not mine, sadly) but was ushered away soon after. There were a lot of young girls in the audience who were acting all fangirlish but there were also people of all ages - from 10 year old kids to 50+.
Some things I remember off the top of my head-
- He said he learned of the HBP move 24 hours before the rest of the public and was disappointed. He jokingly told the audience not to blame him, he had nothing to do with it.
- someone asked him about the dyspraxia stuff that's been hitting the news. He regrets talking about it because everyone's making a big deal about it. He said that he learned gymnastics when he started doing HP and that helped him with his coordination.
- Emma was mentioned - but only in a professional sense. He was asked by the interviewer about Emma's reluctance to sign for the last few films. He said it had to do with her education demands, which we already know. Like I said, she wasn't the best interviewer.
- He did mention the Dan Eldon movie as something he wants to do, but nothing is definite and he didn't want to jinx it by talking about it. He also wants to do more live theater.
- He mentioned Gary Oldman quite a bit - he's basically a mentor to him. He really wants to work with him again and hopes Sirius will be back for the forest scene in DH.
People.com has another nice article about this event:
Radcliffe also said he had some brief hesitations about continuing his role as Harry Potter (the sixth movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is due out next summer). "It would have been really hard to see someone else [play Harry Potter]. Especially if he was very good – that would kill me!"
Radcliffe discussed his role models (his mother and father, and actors Gary Oldman and Stephen Fry) and and his favorite bands (the Sex Pistols, the Libertines.) He also said that he doesn’t read reviews or look at fan Web sites. "It would be stroking my ego," Radcliffe said.
Asked about how he would celebrate the end of the Potter film series, Radcliffe joked, "We’ll go out and all the actors [will] do the [stuff] their insurance haven't covered."
