1st official Being Human (UK) season 3 trailer!

'Being Human' Creator Hints at Something More Physical Between Annie and Mitchell

Speaking recently to Collider, Being Human showrunner and creator Toby Whithouse hinted at something more than just friendship between two of the show's main characters, ghost Annie (Lenora Crichlow) and vampire Mitchell (Aidan Turner).

When asked if death is what keeps Annie and Mitchell connected, Whithouse replied that:
Yeah. Because we end Season 2 with Annie trapped on the other side and Mitchell declaring he’s going to go get het, there’s a moment at the beginning of Season 3 where they’re discussing this and George is nervous about Mitchell doing this, and he says, “This is life and death that we’re talking about. These things shouldn’t be messed with.” And, Mitchell says, “Me and Annie are already dead. It doesn’t get more messed with than that.” There is a connection between them, on the basis of that.

Also, there’s the fact that both of them are going to exist forever, in the state that they are. The notion of this screaming eternity in front of them is a terrifying prospect. There’s something about that that unites them.

Perhaps tragically, there is also an element of Mitchell that would fit into Annie’s relationship history. She’s not exactly made good choices, so why not go for a 120-year-old mass murderer? It’s the next logical step, after dating the guy that killed you. Annie is a character who always looks for the good in another person. Whatever Mitchell has done, there is still an enormous vein of decency, kindness, compassion and humanity within him, and Annie responds to that very well.
When it was mentioned that Mitchell can experience physical love, and Whithouse was asked about how far Annie could go, the showrunner quipped :
They kissed once. All I can say is, watch Episode 4 in Season 3. All will be answered, or maybe it will just be answered with more questions. But, it will be addressed in some kind of vague way.

Is Whithouse telling us that Annie and Mitchell will try to go all the way? Something will definitely happen I should think. But all I know for certain now is I simply can't wait for season 3, which is currently being filmed and will air in the UK in early 2011.

So what do you think. Is a relationship between Annie and Mitchell something you would like to see happening on the show? Do you think that they can get physical about it? What do you think will happen?

Comic-Con 2010: 'Being Human's Aidan Turner on the US Version and Season 3 Tidbits

Aidan Turner, who plays the very sexy (and quite tortured in season 2) vampire Mitchell on Being Human opened up about the American version of the series which is currently being made by SyFy channel with Sam Witwer as the vampire:

"We think it's pretty cool. It's gonna be a very different show, I can imagine, cause they have money - we didn't have any of that, really. They have a budget.

But it'll be a different show, there'll be tons more episodes. It'll be a very different show but it's a huge testament to the brand that is Being Human and to Toby Whithouse and his amazing creative mind. There's no fear with us."

"And you guys know we exist," adds Russell Tovey, who plays werewolf George on the series.

The US version of the character will be named Josh. Only ghost Annie remains the same, as of now.

Turner also talked about his character's American counterpart and says that he's been given "a new sexy name as well, which is cool, he's gonna be called Aidan in the new series."

At that point pretty much everyone in the press room made jokes about the fact that the US version will have it's very own Aidan, which sort of made Turner blush a bit.

About Season 3 I got those few tidbits from the press room:

The characters will be more comfortable as to who they are. They've got each other now and being in a new place offers them a new fresh start.

Lenora Crichlow, who plays ghost Annie, explains that they have:

''A new start with the level of acceptance; you're not fighting the impossible anymore, things that you can't change.

They're all kinda: right, Ghost, yeah, vampire, and werewolf. We've got people that come in, and we share: George is a wolf and there is a kind of everyday-ness about that.''

However, our very special group do start season 3 in a place where they are in complete angst at having lost Annie (for those who have seen season 2, you will know what I mean).

Being Human Season 3 is currently still being filmed in Cardiff.

The series will air in early 2011, dates to be determined.

Exclusive Comic-Con 2010 Story: BBC America's 'Being Human' Press Room

The cast of the BBC hit show Being Human at the press junket: Aidan Turner (Mitchell), Russell Tovey (George), Sinead Keenan (Nina), and Lenora Crichlow (Annie).

The first press room I attended at Comic-Con, which is also the very first press room I have ever attended, was with the BBC America hit series Being Human.

The basic premise of the show is simple: it's about a vampire, a ghost, and now two werewolves, all living together and trying to lead a normal life - which, you can very well imagine, is not an easy task.

But I myself could not have had an easier task, as this was an absolute dream press room.

The press junket took place Thursday morning - the first morning of the convention - and was being held in a conference room situated in one of the many close-by hotels of the convention.

What first struck me, and what I ultimately liked about it, was that it was really more of an intimate setting.

Aidan Turner was pretty much deep in thoughts on that picture, while Russell Tovey was listening intently to one of the girls' answer.

Upon arrival, I was kindly and personally met with the person in charge of publicity from BBC America for the very successful British television series.

Inside the room, the four main actors of the series: Aidan Turner (Mitchell, the vampire), Russell Tovey (George, the werewolf), Lenora Crichlow (Annie, the ghost) and Sinead Keenan (Nina, George's girlfriend) were waiting for us.

They were all seemingly well-relaxed (they had just done a press junket for another group right before us) and with no real apparent jet-lag fatigue though Russell Tovey admitted to me later, during the mid-afternoon signing, that they were feeling it.

One important thing I had to do before the press junket was to begin though was to screw up my courage and introduce myself to the absolutely adorable Sinead Keenan, who had so kindly given me an exclusive interview the year before.

She remembered my name and seemed both surprised and happy to see me there. Sinead keenan was an absolute angel!

I admit that I had an absolutely fantastic experience in that press room. The best of Comic-Con I have to say. All four actors were very nice, down to earth, quick to make funny jokes and you could see from their interaction with each other that these were people that have a great time together, and care for each other.

And what could me more relaxed and friendlier than opening a press junket with a discussion about spiced tea? It was a fantastic moment.

The ever lovely Sinead Keenan caught me taking her pic, while Lenora Crichlow was captivating her audience.

The girls seemed much more comfortable and were definitely more voluble than the guys, who on the other hand appeared to be a bit more shy.

Lenora Crichlow and Sinead Keenan are simply hilarious, and both Aidan Turner and Russell Tovey are absolutely gorgeous and sweet and were quick to respond to the girls' constant teasings.

It was funny to hear and be witnesses to that constant back and forth of teasing between the four cast members.

For 30 minutes the four Being Human cast members answered our questions, and they were very open and talkative. But, alas, it all was over too soon, as I would have stayed at least for an hour in their company.

But after questions were over, the actors took some time to actually let us take pictures and they also took pictures with us. I am telling you, these people were truly beyond nice: I absolutely LOVE them.

The two girls, Lenora Crichlow and Sinead Keenan

Right after this, I was lucky enough to quickly meet with Russell Tovey while exiting the press room and say a few words to him but I got so shy and nervous, I probably babbled some very idiotic things (which I barely can remember) and he must have thought me the silliest woman on the planet ha ha! Damn my shyness and stupid french accent - I swear, the more I'm nervous, the worse it gets.

All in all, a truly wonderful experience with the cast of Being Human. I really am happy that I lost my "press room virginity" with them and I would definitely do one again with them in a heartbeat.

My congratulations and thanks to BBC America for such a great organization.

Yep, that's me in the middle. just ignore me and gaze at the loveliness that is the cast of Being Human.

Comic-Con 2010: BBC's 'Being Human' More Human Than Supernatural

During the Being Human press conference at Comic-Con, the cast talked about their reaction to and how they felt while reading about the concept of the successful Sci-Fi show for the first time.

Actor Russell Tovey, who portrays werewolf George on the BBC series, confessed that when he first heard the concept of a show having a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost living together, he thought it sounded like a kid's show, and that it seemed like it would never work.

"Then you realize it's just so much more than that," Tovey says. "The levels in this show are so much more human then they are supernatural."

Sinead Keenan, who plays the fantastic Nina, adds that the cross that the characters have to bear on Being Human is incidental, "It's about their relationships."

The incredibly delightful Lenora Crichlow, who stars as ghost Annie, mentions the fact that "the characters were all originally written as very human characters," and that "the supernatural edge lent itself."

"It's like the most basic supernatural idea possible," adds Aidan Turner, who plays Mitchell the vampire on the show. "Toby's [Toby Whithouse, the show's creator and showrunner] created this show that sort of stands on it's own a little bit."

Being Human season 3 is currently filming in the UK and is set to air in early 2011.

Being Human Series 3 Casting and Story News!

Filming on the series 3 of Being Human has recently begun, and this is the first piece of news that I've seen so far. The casting news is coming fresh off SFX Magazine:
Fresh from a mind-boggling cameo where Terry Wogan ended up being a conduit for the men with sticks and rope last series, the powers-that-be behind Being Human have unveiled another well known TV star to appear on the show in the upcoming third season.

Following in Michelle Ryan’s footsteps by moving from the Slater family to sci-fi, EastEnders star Lacey Turner (aka Stacey Slater) will feature as a guest star in the first episode of the new series, in her first role since announcing she is leaving Albert Square.

Speaking about filming on the show – which began shooting its third season in Wales last week – she said: “It was fantastic working on Being Human, I had some great scenes with Aidan Turner, especially when his character Mitchell is facing up to some of the things he has done in the past. The cast and crew were really welcoming and I can’t wait to watch how the story comes together on screen when the series airs.”

As for what else we can expect from the new season, details are sparse so far. [MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD] We’re told that the gang have moved permanently – or as permanently as it gets for them – to Wales to try and find some normality after the dramatic climax of the second series (far be it from us to say whether a village in Wales is the best place to find that). However, their fresh start is marred by the loss of Annie (Lenora Crichlow), who manages to contact Mitchell in a desperate cry for help. Missing his friend and anxious to help her, Mitchell is mobilised into action – which is where the other Turner and a plot a smidgen reminscent to Supernatural comes in. Mitchell must enter purgatory to try and save Annie, with the help of a mysterious character called Lia (Lacey Turner), who helps him on his way.

The way series 2 of Being Human ended, things were looking very dire for our beloved Annie. Let's just hope that it wont take the whole series for her to return to the fold.

Being Human series 3 is set to return return in the fall. A US version of Being Human is also being developed by SyFy.

Exclusive Patti Beninati 2009 SDCC Article: BBC Being Human Panel and Doctor Who's 6th Doctor - Colin Baker

Pictures 1-3: The Being Human Panel with Lenora Crichlow, Aidan Turner, Russell Tovey and Writer/Creator Toby Whithouse

While at SDCC, Patti Beninati attended many panels, amongst which was the BBC Being Human Panel. She also took the opportunity to interview Being Human up and coming actors Lenora Crichlow, Aidan Turner and Russell Tovey, as well as Writer/Creator Toby Whihouse.

Miss Beninati kindly gave the Inside Trekker permission to reproduce exclusively for this site part of her article and interview on Being Human.

About the SDCC itself she said that :

Comic Con West topped itself this year, as the biggest and most exciting popular culture convention in the world

And that :

Many fans flocked to the show, and flowed seamlessly into the event over that weekend. According to event organizers, attendance was even higher then last year, issuing over 180,000 passes

About the BBC and Being Human panel she reported:
BBC America hosted a robust panel, and a busy booth, this year at SDCC. They introduced yet another cutting edge Sci-Fi import TV series, the much anticipated new vampire show, "Being Human". Creator and writer, Toby Whithouse, actors Russell Tovey, who plays George, reprises his role as the lovable and predatory werewolf, Aidan Turner plays Mitchell the blood-sucking vampire good-looking and laid-back character, and completing the flat-share trio is Annie, played by Lenora Crichlow, a talkative ghost. The comedy drama series features three young characters sharing a house in Bristol UK, trying to live a normal social human lifestyle, despite being a ghost, a werewolf, and a vampire, struggling to keep their secret double-lives. Who ever thought teaming up ghost, vampire, and a werewolf could be good premises for a TV show? Toby Whithouse did! “The show is refracted thru their humanity, each one in their own want to reclaim and refine their own humanity…the humanity they lost. They all struggle, and for them, humanity is the monster and they are the angles”, said Toby Whithouse. “My influences are the legendary Alan Moore who’s well-know for Warrior, a British comic’s anthology and, Neil Gaiman, of the top writers in modern comics”, said Whithouse. Hot actor Aidan Turner said playing a vampire is cool, “It’s not a mater of inspiration, but more like it’s my first gig and thank God I got the part”. “It’s different then the current vampire shows in that the characters want to desperately be human and the difference between the shows Moonlight & Twilight is he lives in a flat in Bristol,” said Turner.

While there Patti Beninati also got to interview Doctor Who's 6th Doctor, British actor Colin Baker from the BBC series Doctor Who

Colin Baker was in rare form, “it’s entirely a new experience for me because most conventions I go to are all Science Fiction TV, so I’m here because most people who are interested in Sci-Fi are interested in comics, said Baker”. He mentioned that, he was having a great time meeting all of the fans. “It’s so nice being in an environment where they like you,” said Baker. He also crashed a Doctor Who set, and surprised the entire cast and the current "Dr. Who", David Tennant, “They shouted…there’s The Doctor, Baker yelled…“No… there’s The Doctor”, said Baker. Baker said that, “It would be fantastic for Doctor Who to be a woman or to have an older guy again”. Baker may be the sixth version of Doctor Who, but he was a highlight of the convention --- he is a refreshing and extraordinary talented actor.
