"Dan is my Idol "

There was a cute article in The Jakarta Post about a girl, Tera, who was one of 26 pupils of Papandayan 1 state elementary school given an opportunity to meet President Bush when he visited Bogor Palace (Indonesia) on Nov. 20. In this article she talks about how she was chosen to meet the president but when asked about the things she likes and who she would love to meet, this is what her answer was:

"I like playing with my PlayStation and I'm very fond of Harry Potter novels. I like Daniel Radcliffe the actor, who plays Harry Porter in the films. He's my idol, you see.

"If someone asked me whether I would prefer to see President Bush or Daniel Radcliffe, I would certainly opt for the latter. "

A Magical Encounter!

Thanks to Alana from the December Boys blog we have a great story of a couple who had a magical encounter.

Matt and Tara where in Australia around December 2005 for vacations, and they did have a magical moment, they went to a restaurant in Kangaroo Island and guess who they saw...YES, it was DAN!! Matt wrote this about his encounter with Dan:

"...dear God, thousands of planets must have aligned perfectly last night…in the restaurant (I’ll omit the name in case there are prying eyes out there) we ended up sitting a table away from Daniel Radcliffe. If you know Tara, at this point you know why this is big news. If you don’t, Daniel Radcliffe plays Harry Potter in the movie series. Now if you know Tara at ALL you definitely know why this is big news. We didn’t want to invade his privacy, but since I knew no one would believe this (it seems so PHENOMENALLY unlikely), I took one picture in his general direction as proof. I’ll crop out all other detail so it can’t possibly turn into some kind of tabloid deal. What an amazing trip..."

And this is Tara’s account:

"Now, admittedly, while this was a huge surprise it was not beyond my imagination. I had heard that Dan was filming the Australian film December Boys on Kangaroo Island, and in some far reach of my mind had thought it would be fun to come across the set. I didn’t go so far as to think I would come across the entire cast and crew and where they were staying. It didn’t take long for Matt (always the observant one, despite the fact that he didn’t recognize Daniel effing Radcliffe) to realize that every single person in the restaurant, other then the two of us, was a part of the movie.
Now despite the fact that I am a total Harry Potter fangirl, I would not go so far as to disturb some poor stranger during his dinner. So no, no introductions or begging for autographs or pictures. I was reluctant to even have the camera, though I admit I appreciate Matt’s daring with the discrete picture-taking.

To sum up, the quote of the day:

Tara (sitting down to dinner near Daniel Radcliffe): 'And now my vacation is complete.'
Matt: 'No, no, not complete. Now it’s magical.'"

Dan at the Australian Film Institute Awards

Thanks again to ALANA from the December Boys Blog, we now know that Dan will be one of the presenters at the Australian Film Institute (AFI), he along Cate Blanchett, Heath Ledger, Sam Neill and many more great stars will be attending this award on December 7, 2007 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

"Daniel Radcliffe, one of the world's most recognised teen actors, is best known for his role as Harry Potter, and also stars in the forthcoming Australian feature film, December Boys."

There is also a rumor that a clip from Dan's upcoming movie December Boys will be shown to introduce Daniel.

Dan's New Message and Picture

Dan sent Jenna (dr.com) and Page (dr.uk) greetings for the fantastic work they are doing running those two sites and attached to the letter he sent a very nice picture that was taken by Emma Hardy, you can see the picture here and this is what he wrote:

"As I have now finished on HP5 and am about to take a break, I wanted you to have a copy of my new fan mail photo which will be sent out with a new newsletter from the beginning of next year.

"It has been a very exciting year for me. I had a great time making 'Order of the Phoenix' and working again with Gary OIdman, and for the first time Imelda Staunton, was simply fantastic. David Yates was an inspired director who I would walk on hot coals to work with again.

"As many of you know I am going on stage next year, to appear in Equus and the letters of support I have received since the announcment, from many fans have been very exciting to read. Thank you for your words of encouragement.

"Later next year I will film MY BOY JACK and again am completely thrilled to be working on this fantastic and very moving script. It is going to be a very full year and I will relish every moment.

"As I embark on projects outside the Potter franchise (DECEMBER BOYS, EXTRAS, EQUUS and MY BOY JACK) I would like to thank my loyal fans for continuing on this journey with me and following my career with interest."

And finally he wishes his fans a happy, peaceful and fun Christmas and New Year!

Richard Griffiths talks about Daniel

On a recent interview promoting his new movie "History Boys" Richard Griffiths talked about working with Dan in Equus and working in the HP movies.

"Because I mean in the real world, you do the job, and one of the skills you have to learn is if anybody around you is weak, which Daniel Radcliffe is not, then you have to make them look better because that will help you. And that's something I'm used to doing - helping other people get on, on stage. But not with Danny Radcliffe. He's going to be fine."

Dan New Interview

New interview with Dan done by USA TODAY via telephone.

Dan talks about completing OotP:

"Harry is waking up to the fact that life is very hard and people can be very nasty to each other and can do terrible things...There's this ongoing theme which runs through the whole series, and that's a loss of innocence."

When ask about the kiss, he said:

"It was reported that we did huge amounts of takes, but actually you do that number of takes on any scene," says Radcliffe, whose next, even more grown-up role will be on the London stage in Equus in February. "Once you've covered it from all the camera angles, you've done about 30 takes. But because it's the kiss, it was sort of made out that I had requested to do well over 30 takes."

Dan Talks About Harry's Possible Fate

According to dr.uk Dan spoke with journalists in a conference call on 6th November, according to this report Dan talked about Harry's fate, when asked if he'll be playing a death in the expected seventh and final film in the series, Radcliffe said:

"That's a very good question. ... I like to think that I will. ... I think, personally, ... that's the only way [author J.K. Rowling] could ever halt any call for her to keep writing [Potter books], because, I mean, if Harry survives, she'll just be getting plagued by requests to write an eighth book for the rest of her life."
