Identity of the Mysterious Time Lady on Doctor Who Revealed!!

The identity of the mysterious Time Lady that sporadically appeared to Wilf and whom the Doctor saw at a crucial moment in The End of Time two-parter has been revealed!

It appears that Claire Bloom was indeed playing the Doctor's Mother!!

Well in Russell T. Davies's mind at least. Who knows what Steven Moffat will decide to do with that if he ever brings her character back.

The story was just posted over at Life, Doctor Who and Combom and the information was taken from the newly released (in the UK at least) Doctor Who The Writer's Tale The Final Chapter .

I'm waiting to get my hands on this book here in North America hopefully by the end of the month.

Russell Tovey to Be on Torchwood?

Digital Spy reports on an article published in Doctor Who Magazine #417 in which John Barrowman has hinted at the possibility of having Midshipman Frame, who last appeared in the Doctor Who special The End of Time, on Torchwood.

What I'd love, what I think would be great, is if Midshipman Frame became Jack's companion in Torchwood. He's the perfect companion for Jack.

It's funny because Russell Tovey also mentioned something similar in his interview and I talked about it here. Is it possible that he will be a member of the future Torchwood team? The actor doesn't seem to shy away from taking many roles at once.

The Unanswered Mysteries of Doctor Who: The End of Time

Over at Io9, they have an interesting article about those mysteries left behind by Russell T. Davies at the end of The End of Time. They even echo some of my own observations, but they bring up even more questions and possible answers.

Thoughts on The End of Time

After seing The End of Time, the Opus of the David Tennant/Russell T. Davies Era of Doctor Who, I felt there's a few things I needed to share. There are questions that linger on my mind following the finale.

First, I need to say that I was relieved that part 2 was better than part 1 which I thought was a bit slow. The Resurrection of The Master - at least it's method - was on the tad ridiculous and so was his plan. Allright, the Master is insane. I get it. But couldn't Russell T. Davies have come up with something better?

Who was the mystery woman Wilf was seeing? Claire Bloom played a mystery woman simply called The Woman in the end credits who appeared to Wilf on a few occasions during The End of Time 2-parter. When the Doctor finally saw her in the final episode, he recognized her. Are we to understand this was an older incarnation of Rose? Did she find her way, along with Meta-Crisis Ten, to Gallifrey before the Time War, then became a Time Lady in her own right and was checking in on her beloved Doctor? Remember how she also appeared to Wilf on television and she did mention that she had been lost once, much like Rose was when she ended up in the parallel universe. Others have been pointing at Donna who still has the mind of a Time Lord locked away in her head. Or maybe it could even be the Doctor's Granddaughter Susan or even Romana! I wish Davies had not left that open. Only time and subsequent Doctor Who Show runners will tell.

Though I'm not a Martha Jones or Mickey Smith fan, I have to said I was grinning no end at the idea that the two of them had tied the knot following the event of Journey's End. Somehow, I find it fitting that Martha would fall for the much improved Mickey Smith. And so Martha Jones married a Smith. Now put them both in Torchwood. They were bad ass.

The Master sacrificing himself to save the Doctor. Okay, maybe he was really angry at the Time Lords who put the sound of the heartbeat of a Time Lord in his head. Have I said that John Simm was brilliant as the Master? if I haven't, there it is. There was a real chemistry between him and David Tennant. However, I'm disappointed to see him get locked with the other Time Lords in the Time War on Gallifrey, but it made for a hell of a spectacular scene. I hope Moffat will bring him back again at some point.

Wilf and Donna being ordinary? The Doctor has been mentionning how important both Donna and Wilf were. Donna kept running into the Doctor and Wilf found a man most people spend a lifetime looking for in a few hours. In the end, absolutely NO answer was given. This is one thing I hate about Davies, he dangles something in front of our eyes and conveniently forgets about it. I was also disappointed about Donna's lack of appearance. I love Donna, and as the best companion (in my humble opinion) she should have had a better send off. Still, I'm happy she's getting married, and getting money (don't lose that ticket Donna!).

The Lord-President referencing to the Weeping Angels was goose bump inducing. Specially since we know that Steven Moffat is bringing them back for series 5. Did you also notice the 'weeping angels' pose the mysterious Time Lady and Mystery Time Lord (he was yet to be revealed)behind the Lord President were taking? Which brings me to say that it was a waste of the Time Lords. Can we finally get a proper look at that Time-War? And why in the world would you want to make the Time-Lords even bigger megalo-maniacs than the Master. I'm disappointed in this.

And the Lord President is Rassilon!!! One word, just one word uttered by the Doctor. There it is, the first of the Time Lords in all his Timothy Dalton glory!

The Doctor visiting is old companion was a lovely touch. I was smiling broadly when the Doctor introduced Captain Jack to Alonso Frame. I wish I'd seen more of them though. I was almost expecting Captain Jack to show it by the middle of the episode to help the Doctor but alas, it didn't happen.

The Doctor seeing Rose for the last time was sweet but very disappointing. The woman he loves got 2 minutes of screen time? He didn't even say he loved her? WASTED opportunity there. Yes, she'll live happily with Meta-Crisis Ten but this was Proper Ten's chance to SAY it.

David Tennant was brilliant. Brilliant, wonderful, incredible, fantastic, amazing, beautiful, gorgeous etc.etc. That man can act his little heart out I say. My God. He gave it his all, I find no fault in him or his performance. Everything he felt we, as the audience, felt. Every line he gave was delivered with conviction. His last words 'I don't want to go' just broke me down in tears again. I wanted to scream don't go!!! What a regeneration! The power it unleashed damaged parts of the TARDIS, which would explain the changes that will be made to it for series 5. I really, really love Tennant. I wish him the best for his new series, Rex is Not your Lawyer. People, tune in!

But just how sad was it that the four knocks came from Wilf. That just about killed me.

As for the appearance of Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, people have already criticised him as being a clone of David Tennant. I say give him a chance. A few seconds are not enough to judge him, and know that his lines were written by Steven Moffat and not Davies. I myself liked him - though I'm not sure about the whole 'Geronimo' thing.

Still, I say bring on Series 5!

Russell T. Davies Q & A on Digital Spy

On Christmas Day, part one of the last David Tennant Doctor Who specials, The End of Time, aired on the BBC.

That same day, Digital Spy published an exclusive Q & A with Russell T. Davies, the man who brought back Doctor Who to milions of fans and to international acclaim.

Amongst the questions asked, Davies skirted the regeneration part saying

You don’t know if there’s going to be one! Nice try. Well I’ve written two already; one for Chris and a fake one for David. The whole show keeps you on your toes. I can’t promise you anything. You think you’re going to see a regeneration, but I can’t say you’re going to see anything for the reason you think you’re going to see. We get more viewers each year by playing this game with people that we don’t give away too much.

He also talks about the love people have for David Tennant, and about the role the Master plays in the finale as well as his relationship with the Doctor

It’s complicated because he’s The Doctor’s enemy, but now he’s the only other Time Lord in existence, and I’ve always thought in a very strange way these two men love each other - not in a gay way, but they are similar and share a lot.

We learn more about their history, where they want to go. Both of them are heading for death, that’s the important thing. The Doctor knows he’s going to die, The Master is dying. He’s been brought back to life but it hasn’t worked, so both of them are trying to survive while heading to the Immortality Gate. Both in the same situation but at the same time enemies and total opposites. That’s why they’re magical characters. And two of the greatest actors in the land.

One more special to go on New Year's Day, and then we'll step into the Steven Moffat - Matt Smith Era. Though I'm looking forward to seeing season 5 and what's coming up, I can't help but feel extremely sad at the departure of those who made me discover and love Doctor Who.

Doctor Who: The End of Time Pics

The Return of the Time Lords Confirmed, a Cameo and More on The End of Time

Even if this is not truly new news, Mail Online has confirmed the return of the Time Lords for the final David Tennant specials.

Indeed, after months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Timothy Dalton (former James Bond) will be playing ''a senior Time Lord in an extraterrestrial dressing gown.''

The Mail also talks about how emotional was the shoot:

Tennant and all the cast testify that it was a hugely emotional shoot, especially when the dreaded four knocks were finally heard to signal the arrival of the Reaper.
'I was nearly a puddle,' confesses Tennant. But Euros Lyn tells a sweet story about how it unravelled: 'When we shot the very final scene, David was 30ft in the air on a big flying rig. We brought him down and he went back to his trailer and it was all a bit flat, so we faked a final shot to bring him back for a round of applause.
'When he realised what we'd done he welled up and tried to make a speech, but he had to stop and sparked everyone else off, too!'
The tears are likely to be infectious. 'It's a stonking two and a half hours and there won't be a dry eye in the house. Even your turkey will be wet!' warns lead writer Russell T. Davies, breathless with excitement.

'I wrote my heart out for these specials, because I wanted to give David everything. Together we've loved pushing the Doctor further than ever before and this Christmas is David's final time to fly.'

Over at SFX, they call the finale ''Stunning. Brilliant. The best Christmas Day Doctor Who special yet. Not perfect, but hugely entertaining.'' We are also told that there will be a cameo, which has not been disclosed, that's similar to the appearance of Queen Elizabeth 1 at the end of The Shakespeare Code.

Everyone seems to agree that the Finale is grand and epic and that everyone will be left teary eyed at the end of Tennant's swan song as the Tenth Doctor.

Amongst the most interesting ones are: there is a lot of Wilf, Donna's still special, the Master's resurrection is preposterous, and Star Wars, Jaws 2 and the Matrix are getting nods.

Spoilery Stuff on Doctor Who: The End of Time

Fanatical Whovian has posted quotes taken from Doctor Who Magazine. The quotes were told by Russell T. Davies. They reveal quite a few spoilery things so do not read on if you don't want to know.

About the Doctor:

"The Doctor went through hell, on Mars. I think its important to note the angry, vengeful Doctor glimpsed in that climax is gone-that was the point of Adelaide's death; she saved the future, and saved the Doctor from himself. He was brought back to his senses. And as you've seen from the children in need clip, a lot of the old, chipper doctor has been restored. Which is only right and proper, because that's the Doctor we want to see in his final story- the classic hero, the good man, the lovely funny, skinny fell in the suit and trainers... and as ever, there's a melancholy beneath the smile- he's still aware that he's facing the end of his song, and the ominous four knocks. Doctor Who: The End of Time - Pictures Galore and a Brand New Clip

Over at Den of Geek, there's a slew of promotional pictures from Doctor Who: The End of Time, the 2-part series that will mark the end of the Davies-Tennant era.

We see Wilf, who is officially the Tenth Doctor's last Companion, his grand-daughter and former Companion Donna, her mother Sylvia, The Master, as well as brand new characters. We also have our fist pictures of actress Sinead Keenan who also appears in the specials in the role of Addams, a green spiky alien. I interviewed Miss Keenan a few months back and you can read it here.

Blogtor Who has published some pictures and an article from the newest issue of Radio Times. There are some VERY interesting bits of casting for the last 2 episodes that are revealed.

*Spoilers ahead.

Timothy Dalton is confirmed as appearing in The End of Time as a character called the Narrator, according to the Scotsman. Also cast are actresses June Whitfield, Claire Bloom and, this is such exciting news, BRIAN COX!!!!

I was already excited now I’m crazy over the top!!!

According to the Radio Times article we’re also getting an emo Master. Both the Doctor and his mortal enemy, the Master, are entering the final stages of their lives and are dying. None of them wants to go.

Russell T. Davies says: 'It’s personal for the Doctor. The Master is his enemy, his opposite, and yet so tantalisingly close to being his soul mate. There’s something epic about their sheer existence – the last two survivors of an ancient race. It’s a clash of the titans. Both of them heading for death, and yet both determined to survive - at any cost!'

The End of Time also marks the return of Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. Both of whom will appear to go through important emotional stuff and for them this may be the end.

The finale may have an emo Master, but we, as viewers, will be very emo viewers as well.

According to Digital Spy, the final episodes of the Davies-Tennant era of Doctor Who will air during Christmas Day at 7:30PM on BBC One and New Years Day again at 7:30PM on BBC One.

New Picture of the Doctor and Wilfred from The End of Time

Den of Geek has gotten their hands on a brand new BBC picture from one of the 2 parts of Doctor Who: the End of Time. This is what they had to say:

The BBC has released this morning another shot from the Christmas Doctor Who specials, The End Of Time. At first glance, it's the marvellous Bernard Cribbins alongside David Tennant in a quiet street (albeit looking a little startled).
But look a bit closer. That book that the Doctor is holding is called Fighting The Future, by Joshua Naismith. Joshua Naismith is a character in The End Of Time, being played by David Harewood (he's in the trailer for the episode).
How about a bit more, though? Remember the bus in Planet Of The Dead earlier in this year? It had an advert on the side of it. Remember who that advert was for? It was for a telecommunications company Neon by Naismith. The plot thickens.
We'll leave you to connect some of those dots together....!

The plot thickens indeed! Seems everything is related together and is bringing our beloved Tenth Doctor inexorably to his end.

Doctor Who: The End of Time - 3 Minute Clip!

This clip was shown earlier today on the UK TV program Children in Need.

*SPOILERS BELOW

The light silly mood of the beginning of the clip is quite a contrast to the ending of The Waters of Mars. It appears that the Doctor has done quite a bit of travelling and has gone into trouble in between specials, running away from his fate.

The most shocking revelation comes when the Doctor tells Ood Sigma that he got married to Good Queen Bess (Queen Elizabeth the First and this probably explains why she knew him at the end of Season 3 episode 2 The Shakespeare Code while he didn't), that he slept with her and the she was no longer the Virgin Queen! Haha!!

Ahhhh Russel T. Davies.

First Pic of David Tennant from The End of Time!

Digital Spy published the first official picture of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor from ''The End of Time''.

The picture is rather dark and casts the Doctor and the Tardis in quite a lot of shadows with a bit of light streaming on his face. It serves to emphasize the theme of loneliness as well as the fact that the Doctor is coming toward the end of his life. It's rather full of sadness as well as foreboding I think.

In the meanwhile, ''The Waters of Mars'' is coming up in the UK on november 15th (this coming sunday) and Digital Spy has some more exclusive pictures from the episode here.
