Moonlight, a show about a vampire private investigator (no, it's not
Angel), aired on CBS during the 2007-2008 season and starred Alex O'Loughlin in the role of Mick St. John and Sophia Miles as the object of his love, Beth Turner. It ended after only airing 16 episodes, amidst fan outcry.
There were always talks about the possibility to bring the show back, especially in the wake of
Twilight's huge popularity and the critical success of HBO's
True Blood.
Today, we have learned that the CW plans to air repeats of the defunct vampire series right after it's own vampire hit show
The Vampire Diaries, starting June 3rd, from 9-10pm.
Apparently, CBS' Nina Tassler said that the revival of
Moonlight is still possible. The fact that the CW is partially owned by CBS could be a viable option for the series since the CW doesn't require the same percentage of viewer rating as the main channels do.
Perhaps the CW and CBS are testing the waters by putting up a vampire double-bill and see where the ratings go. And if it turns out to be successful, and
Moonlight is revived, where could it leave
Supernatural in the weekly grid? Could it be paired back with
Smallville again?
Right now, however, I'm quite certain that many Moonlight (and Alex O'Loughlin) fans will be hol;ding their breaths and crossing their fingers.
What do you think about this? Is there now hope for a season 2?
