Yet not content with being a Disney poster-girl Hilary struck out in a more mature direction only to watch as her mantle was taken up by Miley Cyrus (initially under the guise of Hannah Montana). In the meantime her dancefloor vamp persona didn’t translate as the public stayed awake from sassy stuff like With Love and Reach Out.
This Best Of seems rather like a compromise contract-filler yet does indeed prove that Hilary’s voice graced some of the best pop songs of the last few years. Aside from So Yesterday and Come Clean (present rather unfortunately in the form of a dance remix), the biting Fly and joyous Wake Up also register well.
Sure there are duds like her first single Why Not, but you’ll be surprised at how many memorable tunes this beautiful young lady packed into her short career.
